FREE 7 Hours of CLE:  Includes 2 Hours of Ethics & 1 Hour of Bias Elimination Credits; 7 Hours Certification Credits: Juvenile      Law & Marital and Family Law

Every day a teenager ages out of foster care. They need someone who will help and support them during their journey. You can be that person. Just a little bit of time each month can change the life of a mentee – studies show that mentees achieve higher educational, economic and social outcomes.

The FAWL in Love with GAL project connects FAWL members with older youth in foster care. We are not asking you to be a guardian – FAWL members will mentor the youth as they transition into independence. Download our Program Executive Summary.

All mentors are provided training, including free CLE credits, and supported by GAL Program staff.

What will your mentoring moment be?

As part of the FAWL in Love with GAL project, the GAL program will provide a free, full-day CLE training for all participating FAWL members who will accept a mentee. In accordance with The Florida Bar’s March 1st revision to member’s professional requirement, the training will include both an ethics credit as well as a bias elimination credit – providing attendees 2 of the 5 required professionalism hours. (Rule 6-10.3(b)). CLE certification is pending.

Limited travel scholarships for those traveling more than 50 miles one way to the training site may be available. Please contact Thomasina Moore, Florida Guardian ad Litem Program, Thomasina.Moore@gal.fl.gov for more information.
